Antique Persian Hamadan rug (specifically leaning toward the Malayer region).

The rug features a classic hexagonal central medallion with a heavy floral and scrolling vine field. The back of the weave shows the characteristic "ribbed" texture and single-weft construction typical of the Hamadan district.

Identification Details

 Origin: Northwest Iran (Hamadan/Malayer district).

 Design: Herati-influenced floral motifs with a prominent stepped medallion and "turtle" or floral borders.

 Construction: Hand-knotted wool on a cotton foundation.

 Age: Circa 1920s–1930s (Antique/Semi-Antique). The visible "abrash" (natural color variation in the blues and reds) and the wear on the cotton fringe suggest a genuine age of 80+ years.
