Product Description

A striking vintage handwoven tribal mat from Borneo, Indonesia, likely associated with Dayak weaving traditions and dating to the mid-to-late 20th century.

Woven from natural plant fibers, likely rattan, bemban, or a related material, the mat features a highly graphic geometric composition of repeating square panels with diamond motifs. The palette of warm natural tan, deep brown-black, and muted rust-red gives the piece a strong earthy character.

At nearly 6¼ feet long, this is an especially decorative example that works beautifully as wall art, an architectural textile element, or a floor mat in a low-traffic setting. The bold geometric pattern has a distinctly modern visual quality despite its traditional origins.

An appealing piece for collectors of Indonesian, Southeast Asian, tribal, ethnographic, or folk art, and a particularly effective decorative accent for contemporary, rustic, or globally inspired interiors.
