A rare and atmospheric set of three large-format, custom-framed Chinese album leaves painted in ink and light color on paper, depicting fierce crouching tigers set within rugged mountain landscapes and accompanied by classical calligraphic text.

Each leaf represents a double-page spread from a historical painting album. The detailed brushwork rendered in monochromatic ink washes captures the power and spiritual vigor (shengdong) of the tigers, framed by ancient trees, mist, and cascading waterfalls.

The accompanying calligraphy leaf features an introductory commentary on the depiction of tigers, attributed to Ts'ai Lan-hsün during the reign of the Kangxi Emperor (1662–1722), referencing the style and tradition of the monk-painter Priest Jen Kuo (Shaanxi Province).
