The panel features exceptional, multi-layered openwork relief carving in the traditional Teochew or Dongyang style. It depicts a lively theatrical or courtly palace scene populated by numerous figures in traditional Hanfu robes, set against stylized architectural pavilions and sweeping foliage. The deep three-dimensional carving is heavily highlighted in rich gold leaf (gilt) over a traditional red lacquer undercoat, balanced by vibrant blue and earth-tone polychrome painted accents.
